EVOSYS impresses industry experts at K 2025 in Düsseldorf

Innovation meets sustainability – at the K trade fair, Evosys presented groundbreaking laser welding solutions with the EvoWeld Mini made from environmentally friendly wood, the EvoWeld Generation 2, and the EVO 0800-TD. Numerous technical discussions and considerable interest confirm the company’s success and innovative strength.

Erlangen, October 2025: Evosys, a leading provider of innovative laser welding solutions, draws a thoroughly positive conclusion from this year’s K trade fair in Düsseldorf. Numerous visitors took the opportunity to find out about the latest developments and technologies in the field of laser plastic welding at the Evosys booth. The discussions were of a high technical quality and inspired new ideas and collaborations.

A particular highlight of the trade fair was the EvoWeld Mini, made from a wooden housing, which not only looked impressive but also symbolized the sustainability aspect of laser plastic welding. The integrated absorption tester made the compact welding station a crowd puller and underlined Evosys’ innovative strength.

The focus is also on the EvoWeld Generation 2. Continuous development and the optimized design of the system enable even higher welding quality with shorter delivery times. The EvoWeld 2 is available at short notice and can be flexibly adapted to customer requirements – with either manual or automatic loading and unloading.

The retrofit kit for the Evo2Step process was also demonstrated on this standard machine during live welding. This is a combination of simple, additional equipment and a sequence control system specially developed for existing machines, so that the Evo2Step process variant can be easily integrated into all machines with a pneumatic clamping system. This allows two absorbent components with a size of up to approx. 100 x 100 mm² to be manufactured very efficiently and with high quality in a two-stage laser welding process on almost all Evosys machines.

For larger components, the new Evo2Step machines are also available, with up to 2.8 kW laser power, larger working areas of up to 2 x 2 m², servo-electric clamping systems, and many other features.

One of these features is the ability to determine the absorption of plastics at 980 nm for the first time. The heat absorption behavior of the two joining partners is crucial for optimal process control and high-quality results in the two-stage Evo2Step process. The absorption test function makes it easy to check this behavior and compare it very accurately between different individual parts.

In addition, Evosys presented the consistent further development of the EVO 0800-TD. The compact control technology is now housed in space-saving 19″ racks, which facilitates integration into existing production lines and significantly reduces space requirements, as an additional control cabinet is no longer necessary. The stand-alone kit with operator interface enables manual operation, ideal for process development and sample part production. Later, the process module can be easily integrated into a fully automated line, allowing the accumulated know-how to be used directly in series production.

“K 2025 was a complete success for us,” summarizes Managing Director Holger Aldebert. “The high number of visitors and the great interest in our innovations show that our solutions are striking a chord with the industry. We are particularly pleased that sustainability and efficiency are becoming increasingly important to our customers—this is exactly where our products come in.”

A decade full of innovation and growth

Erlangen, May 2025: Evosys Laser GmbH proudly celebrates its

10th anniversary as a leading company in laser plastic welding joining technology. Under the creative artificial word “Evosys”, a combination of “Evolution” and “Systems”, the search for the perfect identity that has characterized the company since its foundation began in 2015. Over the past 10 years, the company has succeeded in expanding its technical expertise, overcoming global crises and writing an impressive success story.

“The most important motivating force behind our success is our employees,” emphasized Frank Brunnecker, Managing Director of Evosys, in his speech at the company’s big celebration last Friday. “Entrepreneurial action, a global outlook and regional roots combined with advanced technology are the cornerstone of this success story and have enabled us to position ourselves successfully in a constantly changing market,” Brunnecker continued. Brunnecker is particularly grateful to the original founder, Andreas Kraus, who had the courage and confidence to collaborate and establish Evosys Laser GmbH. Together with the company Intego GmbH, a specialist in optical inspection for manufacturing, as an investor, which was also convinced by the concept and determination, the company was founded.

An enormous opportunity appeared just 2.5 years after the company was founded, in 2018, when Evosys ventured abroad through a joint venture – a decision that proved to be groundbreaking for the international business. The establishment of the company’s location in China, which Andreas Kraus actively promoted locally for two years, as well as the subsequent opening of another location in the USA, clearly demonstrates the company’s global outlook. In recent years, the company has increased its export share to an impressive 70 percent, while at the same time maintaining and further expanding its location in Erlangen.

Another important milestone was reached with the move to the company’s current location in Felix-Klein-Straße in Erlangen-Bruck. Modern premises with 1,200 square meters of office space and 1,500 square meters of warehouse space provide sufficient room for further expansion. The property was finally acquired in 2023 and now provides Evosys with a secure, central company headquarters and regional roots in the dynamic Nuremberg metropolitan region for the long term.

“Evosys is the result of a successful combination of innovative technology and a motivated, passionate team,” explains Managing Director Holger Aldebert. “We are firmly convinced that our simple recipe for success will continue to be the key to our long-term success.”

While the current market mood is tense, the company remains optimistic and looks to the future with confidence. “With our first-class products and a strong team, we will overcome the challenges and continue our success story,” concludes Brunnecker.

Evosys would like to thank all employees, partners and customers for a successful decade and looks forward to shaping the next chapters of this exciting journey together.

EVOSYS receives environmental certification ISO 14001:2015

Evosys has been responsibly committed to environmental protection and sustainable action within the company for several years. The internationally recognized ISO 14001:2015 certification means that the established measures are now officially recorded and documented.

Erlangen, November 2024: Laser plastic welding technology is a process for joining two plastic components together with a material bond. With low energy requirements and long machine running times, the process has versatile, cross-industry possibilities for resource-saving and sustainable use.

Comprehensive environmental management was introduced in all business areas for successful environmental certification in accordance with ISO 14001:2015. On the one hand, this includes a life cycle assessment of the machines, from the procurement of raw materials, through the service life and finally the recycling of the systems. On the other hand, further measures are being taken to raise employee awareness of sustainable and environmentally conscious action.

By introducing the environmental management system, Evosys is underlining its commitment to protecting the environment and preserving vital nature for future generations.

Managing Director Frank Brunnecker comments on the successful certification: “We want to motivate our employees through clearly defined environmental goals and processes and at the same time raise awareness of sustainable action. The focus is on protecting our shared environment.” Thomas Kneidl, Environmental Management Officer at Evosys, adds: “We are reducing our energy consumption, lowering our CO2 emissions through the use of renewable energies and ensuring that we use environmentally friendly materials.”

Measures to achieve the environmental targets include, for example, the expansion of the solar plant at the company headquarter in Erlangen. This will be extended to the roof of the production hall in 2025 to ensure the entire energy supply comes from renewable energy sources. Evosys also encourages employees to act sustainably and environmentally consciously by offering them a monetary allowance if they regularly leave their car at home and come to work by bike or public transport.

Evo2Step – 2-step joining process from EVOSYS in the fast lane

The tried-and-tested Evo2Step joining process is becoming increasingly popular, especially in the field of electromobility. The 2-step welding process for components made of the same material not only saves resources, but is also energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Erlangen, September 2024: Thanks to technical progress and the availability of new materials, direct laser welding is gaining new possibilities. New areas of application are being developed and processed.

In 1-step laser welding processes (laser transmission welding), individual parts that have already been assembled are processed as an assembly. It is essential that one of the components is laser-transparent and the other is laser-absorbent. The laser penetrates the upper component, shines on the absorbing part and melts the weld seam. At the same time, both parts are pressed firmly together with high clamping force. The result is a material-locking connection.

However, if the material thickness of the components in the area to be penetrated is too high or if a laser-permeable material is not available due to customer-specific requirements, 1-step welding processes reach their limits.

Compared to the 1-step joining process, the 2-step joining process, Evo2Step, has almost no restrictions in terms of material thickness, conductivity or color variety. In this welding process, both components are melted separately on the surface in the first step and assembled and pressed together in the second step. The use of components of the same material enables a greater choice of plastics. This means that components from the same injection mold can also be used, as the “laser-transparent” characteristic is not necessary.

The advantages of laser welding remain the same regardless of the process used. For example, heat is applied selectively and in a controlled manner, meaning that the seam width and fusion depth can be defined very precisely.

In contrast to hot gas joining, the Evo2Step process does not require more energy, is low in COand does not require a large investment in clamping tools, gas sources and additional safety precautions. Recently, two projects from the automotive industry were successfully realized with the Evo2Step process and firmly integrated into the customer’s production line. “All design requirements were realized without any restrictions. We were even able to reduce costs thanks to the high energy efficiency of the joining process,” said Managing Director Holger Aldebert.
