The Evosys Group looks back on an eventful 2025

Despite the unstable global economic situation, the EVOSYS Group can once again look back on a successful fiscal year. The laser plastic welding technology is part of a stable growth market in the medium term, and the EVOSYS brand is well positioned in the international market as a technology leader.

The year 2025 and the preceding months presented the mechanical engineering industry with particular challenges: global competition, rising material costs, fluctuating sales figures in the automotive industry, and tariff uncertainties shaped the economic landscape. Yet it is precisely during such periods that a company’s strength is revealed.

Evosys Laser GmbH has used this time to make targeted investments in the future—both at its Erlangen location and in its international subsidiaries. The focus has been on research and development, as well as the continuous development of our employees and infrastructure. As a technology leader, we know that innovation is the key to sustainable success. Our R&D activities aim to continuously optimize existing products and create unique added value for our customers through new, patent-protected solutions. In this way, we not only secure our competitiveness but also actively shape the future of the industry.

The subsidiaries in the U.S. and China are showing encouraging progress. Particularly in the U.S. market, numerous innovative projects are currently underway, being driven forward with great momentum and successfully tested.

The start of 2026 has also been positive so far. For the EVOSYS Group, the stability and sustainability of our business are our top priorities. Rather than focusing on a single major customer and short-term profits, we have maintained a diversified business model from the very beginning. As a result, we are represented in all key industries and are less vulnerable to fluctuations in individual sectors or markets.

Evosys Laser GmbH has once again been recognized as a TOP 100 Top Innovator 2026 in the field of innovation. We were also honored to receive the BayernsBest50 award and were recognized by Kununu in the third quarter as one of the Top 3 Employers in Bavaria. A particular highlight is the “Grand Prize for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises 2026” from the Oskar Patzelt Foundation—we are currently in the preliminary jury stage for this award. This prestigious honor recognizes companies that set standards in the German economy through innovative strength, sustainable growth, and outstanding customer focus.

Laser Plastic Welding for Bio-Based Sports Drink Bottles: A Reliable, Automated Manufacturing Solution for Fassibottle and Evosys

Innovative material and manufacturing concepts are becoming increasingly important. A recent example of this is the bio-based sports drink bottle from Fassibottle, which will be welded in our Evosys contract manufacturing facility in the future.

The vacuum-free bottle is made from renewable sugarcane. Through targeted design adjustments, the bottle is prevented from collapsing while drinking, ensuring a consistent and unobstructed flow of liquid. At the same time, the bottle retains its shape during use, thereby meeting the requirements of many top athletes and finding particular application in cycling.

In the original product design, the valve concept in particular posed a challenge. It consisted of several individual components such as the valve, seal, and nut, which required labor-intensive manual assembly. In addition to the increased manufacturing effort, this also resulted in a functional risk: the valve could be opened by the end user, which could compromise both the seal and product safety.

To optimize the design and manufacturing process, laser plastic welding was implemented as the joining technology in consultation with Evosys and Fassibottle. This process enabled the creation of a permanent, unbreakable bond between the valve and the bottle body. The particle-free joining process ensures that no contaminants are introduced into the drinking system—a decisive advantage, particularly in the food and consumer goods sectors. Furthermore, laser plastic welding enables short cycle times and high process speeds, significantly increasing cost-effectiveness in series production.

Another advantage lies in end-to-end process integration: From the production of the bottle body and the punching of the bottle base to the insertion of the valve, subsequent welding, and final assembly, the entire production process can be efficiently and automatically managed. This reduces interfaces, minimizes sources of error, and ensures consistently high product quality.

MedTech companies benefit from short decision-making paths, high planning reliability, and manufacturing solutions from a single source—ranging from precise laser welding processes for plastics to flexibly configurable process modules and fully automated assembly and testing systems.

At MD&M Anaheim (MD&MWest), it became clear just how important this combined expertise is: scaling up MedTech production must not come at the expense of quality and compliance. In dialogue with R&D, quality assurance, and production teams, the focus was on practical approaches to making production lines safer, smarter, and more efficient.

Strong sales partner team for the Eastern United States – Frank Brunnecker (Managing Director of Evosys Laser GmbH), Andreas Schnaiker (Senior Global Key Account Manager for Medical Devices), Denis Wittmaier (Managing Director of Evosys North America Corp.), and Franziska Putz (Head of Marketing at Schaeffler Special Machinery)

Expanded Presence and Application Expertise on the West Coast

At the same time, Evosys is strengthening its collaboration with its long-standing partner, Dax Research. Both companies have more than 15 years of experience in laser plastic welding and are established as reliable partners for demanding plastic applications.

The partnership with Dax Research is now being systematically expanded and strategically developed. The goal is to offer customers on the U.S. West Coast direct access to sales, service, and application support.
