Inspection of Modern Plastic Components – Innovative and Versatile Solutions
In the last couple of years laser through welding has been established as a reliable joining process. To ensure a perfect joining process it is most important that the optimal amount of energy is deposited at the boundary of the joining parts. The optical properties of the transparent parts in general and its transmission characteristics in particular are crucial for this process. These properties cannot only vary for different components but can also fluctuate within one part. To enhance the quality control and optimize the joining via laser through welding processes, INTEGO developed in close cooperation with EVOSYS a series of inspection systems capable of precisely determining the necessary transmission properties. PICTOR Plane and Radial are two of the specialized inspection systems for flat and round parts, respectively. The PICTOR series can be adjusted customer-specifically to follow arbitrary contours within a part. Besides, PICTOR systems feature excellent measurement accuracy and an innovative calibration concept.
For further quality enhancement in the laser through welding process INTEGO also developed an inspection technique to check the welding seam for deviations and defects. Especially in the automotive industry and for medical technologies, specifications are found which impose a testing of the joint for each part. For that reason INTEGO developed a series of inspection tools, which precisely validate the welding seam quality inline.
The interplay between the determination of the transmission characteristics of the transparent parts, the state-of-the-art laser through welding process of EVOSYS and the pioneering seam weld inspection of INTEGO, can be seen as a new standard for assuring the quality of laser welding.
With more than 50 employees and 20 years of experience INTEGO is a well-established expert for customized non-destructive and contactless inspections in the plastic industry. Typical inspection tasks -beside the determination of transmission characteristics and the weld seam inspection - are the surface inspection, the measurement of geometric properties, the print inspection, and the specks analysis. Moreover INTEGO offers solutions for surface and material inspection in the solar, ceramics, semiconductor, and electronics industry. Apart from providing the most modern measurement and inspection technologies for high throughput inline control, Intego also offers customized image processing and complex automation solutions for high-end production lines.
