360° inspection of modern plastic components - tested by INTEGO
Practice shows that due to the material properties and the manufacturing process, transmission differences occur along the welding contour of the transparent joining partner, which can in part considerably influence the welding process. For example, unexpected glass fiber accumulations or speck formation can occur in the upper joining partner, resulting in increased absorption of the laser beam during the welding process. The amount of energy required for the joining process is thus no longer available at the interface of the two joining partners. Defective weld seams up to burning of the upper joining partner can be the result.
Therefore, INTEGO has developed a novel inspection system for transmission measurement on rotationally symmetric components in close cooperation with EVOSYS to ensure an optimal joining process in the long term. The PICTOR Radial System has been specially designed for round plastic parts, as they are mainly used for automotive cooling and fuel lines. The PICTOR transmission system is characterized by its innovative measuring concept, which allows a non-destructive 360° measurement of the weld contour, which is sometimes difficult or impossible to access, and its excellent measuring accuracy.
On request, the systems can be adapted to special customer requirements. In addition to powerful and flexible table systems, customer-specific inline solutions for 100% inspection are also available. With the help of individual part holders and a movable sensor unit, the table systems can be adapted to almost any test piece with different diameters.
The interaction between the determination of the transmission properties of the transparent joining partner and the innovative laser welding solutions of EVOSYS sets new standards in laser welding of plastic components and their quality assurance.
